At Pondicherry University, AMP Energy has Installed a Solar Power Plant

The project is one of the country’s largest solar power plants at a university. According to a statement, it is scattered across 15 buildings, two parking lots, and two property parcels on the university campus.

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated AMP Energy India’s 2.4 MW solar power facility at Pondicherry University on Wednesday.

The project is one of the country’s largest solar power plants at a university. According to a statement, it is scattered across 15 buildings, two parking lots, and two property parcels on the university campus.
The facility would play a key role in delivering solar energy to fulfill around 40% of the university’s energy requirements.

In the presence of Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, Lt Governor of Puducherry & Chief Rector of Pondicherry University, N Rangasamy, Chief Minister of Puducherry, and Prof. Gurmeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry University, the vice president inaugurated the plant on September 13th, according to the statement.

Pondicherry University would save money on energy and contribute to a reduction of roughly 2,900 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year by switching to solar power, according to the statement.

Solar Energy Corporation of India’s 97.5MW rooftop scheme was used to create the project (SECI). Under this plan, Pondicherry University and Amp Energy India have signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the purchase of solar power for 25 years.

Solar projects have been completed for the School of Planning and Architecture at National Law University in Bhopal, as well as the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management in Gwalior.

Amp Energy India has produced big rooftop projects for L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Ltd (7.8MW), Tata Hitachi Construction Machinery (10.5MW), and Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, including the largest solar rooftop for an industrial customer (18.5MW).
